Mayor Zohran Mamdani Sends Letter Of Support to Anime NYC

Starting yesterday and heading into this weekend, Anime NYC is taking over Manhattan’s Jacob Javits Convention Center for four days of anime news, premieres, merch, cosplay, and more, and the city’s mayor has sent a letter of support for the much-loved pop culture event!

“Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone to the Javits Center for Anime NYC.

As a global hub of media and entertainment, New York is delighted to once again host this exciting convention, which brings together thousands of industry professionals and fans for a showcase of the latest in the arts of anime and manga. Featuring cosplay programs, exhibitions, a gaming hall, live music performances, panel discussions, and appearances by notable creators from Japan and beyond, this four-day-long expo is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to make new connections and discover more about the trends and innovations that are shaping the world of Japanese pop culture. As the first Asian Mayor of New York City, I applaud everyone associated with this annual symposium that celebrates the rich heritage of our Japanese community, strengthens our artistic, economic, and tourism sectors, and captures the imaginations of diverse New Yorkers.
