Kaiju No. 8 is an action-science-fiction series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. Set in a world where major cities are attacked by kaiju, it follows Kafka Hibino, a man who, after being infected by a parasite, gains the power to transform into a kaiju, which he uses to defend against devastating monster attacks as part of the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force.
It would later be adapted into an anime series directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomoi Kamiya and written by Ichirō Ōkouchi and Yūichirō Kido, with music by Yuta Bandoh and production by Production I.G. Production I.G would create a spin-off ONA series titled Kaiju No. 8 Narumi’s Weekday, with Shigeyuki Miya continuing his role as director and Yuta Bandoh returning to handle music.
Kaiju No. 8 volume 16 will be available on September 1, 2026. Pre-orders are open now. See available online stores at Viz.com or take a kaiju-sized step over to your local bookstore / Comic shop to get your copy.
