‘Your Name’ 4K Remaster Heads To Theaters For Its 10th Anniversary

Anime romance fantasy film Your Name is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a 4K remaster screening in theaters later this month, thanks to GKIDS and TOHO.

“One morning, rural schoolgirl Mitsuha and city kid Taki awaken to discover that they’ve switched bodies. The total strangers struggle to navigate each other’s lives, walking tightropes of intimacy and distance. But when they finally resolve to meet, the true nature of their connection threatens to seal their fate.”

Your Name is a 2016 anime film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai as a part of his “Disaster Trilogy,” and stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi, with music by Radwimps and production by CoMix Wave Films. The film follows two high school students who, on certain days, are forced to swap bodies; they unleash chaos in each other’s lives while getting to know each other as a looming disaster threatens one of their lives. The movie was immensely well received around the globe, earning praise for its captivating story, engaging romance, and detailed, vibrant visuals. A live-action adaptation is reportedly in development by Bad Robot and Paramount.

The anniversary screening of the film will be its 4K remaster, which will also get a limited edition Steelbook 4K UHD + Blu-ray two-disc home release on August 25, 2026.

Special features include a special TV program, an interview with Makoto Shinkai, “Behind the Scenes of Your Name” special, “Makoto Shinkai filmography”, textless opening credits, and teasers & trailers.
