Horror Film ‘Buddy’ Gets Hauntingly Cheerful New Teaser Trailer

Take a terrifying trip back to the 90s in the new horror thriller Buddy, set for release on August 28th. Get your first look at the colorfully friendly world of horror with this new teaser trailer.

Inside the colorful world of “It’s Buddy!”, a group of children spend their days singing, dancing, and helping Buddy spread happiness. But when one child refuses to play along, Buddy is not pleased and cracks begin to appear in this seemingly perfect world.”

Buddy is directed by Casper Kelly, with a screenplay by Kelly and Jamie King. Set in 1999, it follows a group of children who live in the world of the once-popular TV show It’s Buddy. But all isn’t as it seems, with their lives completely controlled by the show’s host, an anthropomorphic unicorn named Buddy, who doesnt like it when people don’t listen. The movie stars Cristin Milioti, Topher Grace, Keegan-Michael Key, Michael Shannon, and Patton Oswalt. The film’s production was handled by BoulderLight Pictures and Low Spark Films.

It premiered in the Midnight section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Its theatrical release in the United States will be on August 28, 2026.
