Animated Film ‘ANOTHER WORLD’ Gets a June 5th U.S. Theatrical Release Date and New Trailer

GKIDS Films has announced that the animated fantasy film Another World will premiere in North American theaters on June 5th.

“Gudo is a Soul Keeper, a spirit who guides human souls into their next life. When he befriends a young girl named Yuri, he discovers that her untimely death has left her cursed with unresolved rage and regret. As Yuri’s soul teeters on the edge of annihilation, Gudo embarks on a dangerous journey to stop her from unleashing horrible destruction on both the human world and the spirit realm.”

Another World is an animated fantasy film adapted from Naka Saijō’s 2012 novel Thousand Year Ghost. A story set in a mysterious afterlife where soul keepers help the dead let go of their past so they can be reincarnated, the Soul Keeper Gudo finds himself helping a young girl whose life left her filled with pain and regret. Originally released as a 14-minute short film in 2019, it was remade into a full-length feature film that was immensely well-received, becoming the highest-grossing Hong Kong animated film ever as of May 2026 and the second-highest-grossing movie made in Hong Kong in 2025. The film is directed by Tommy Kai Chung Ng, with a screenplay by Polly Yeung, art direction by Step C., music by Adlian Chau, CMgroovy, and Vicky Fung, and was co-produced by Point Five Productions and Silver Media Group. It stars Suet-Ying Chung, Hiu-Tung Choi, Louis Cheung, Kay Tse, Will Or, and Thaimay.
