GKIDS Films and STUDIO 4ºC are teaming up to bring the 4K remaster of Tekkonkinkreet to North American theaters at the end of this month.
“Black, a tough and skilled fighter, and his naïve younger brother White, are two orphaned street kids patrolling the slums of Treasure Town. When gangsters threaten to tear down what’s left of the city to build a theme park, the kids are thrown into a nonstop battle to survive, taking on yakuza, alien assassins, and ultimately their own selves.”

Tekkonkinkreet is a 1993-1994 coming-of-age urban fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Taiyō Matsumoto. Set in the fictional city of Takaramachi (Treasure Town), it follows two orphaned children as they deal with the yakuza’s takeover of their town. The anime film adaptation was originally released in 2006 and was directed by Michael Arias, with a screenplay by Anthony Weintraub, music by Plaid, and animation by Studio 4°C.
