Fathom Entertainment and Aniplex of America are teaming up to bring Virgin Punk Clockwork Girl, the first part of the planned anime action series Virgin Punk, to North American theaters for a special limited engagement this week. The story tells of a future filled with high-stakes bounty hunters.
“Conditions for Receiving Bounty: Bring the brain of a wanted criminal possessing illegal Somadea to the authorities. Whether the target is alive or dead… is irrelevant.
The year 2099. Humanity has overcome all injury and illness with the development of Medical Android Technology ‘Somadea.’ Somadea grants superior physical, but by illegally modifying it, Somadea can be misused for criminal purposes.
To handle these crimes, the government established the Bounty Hunter System. Registered civilians can kill wanted criminals and are rewarded with large bounties.
In this unforgiving world, Ubu Kamigori hunts criminals as a bounty hunter. But one day, waiting in her home is the man she shares a sordid history with—Mr. Elegance. And so, her destiny begins to unravel.

Virgin Punk is an anime series created by director Yasuomi Umetsu, with animation production by Shaft. VIRGIN PUNK is set in a not-too-distant future where technological medical advancements have led to superpowered criminal threats, prompting the development of a new bounty hunter system to combat them. The series follows a young girl who is compelled to venture beyond her usual bounties when a figure from her past resurfaces.
The film is directed by Umetsu (and also features his character designs), written by Yūya Takahashi, with music by Yoshiaki Dewa, and produced by Shaft. The Japanese voice cast includes Saki Miyashita, Katsuyuki Konishi, Taku Yashiro, Rui Tanabe, Norio Wakamoto, Fūka Izumi, and Sumire Uesaka. The English voice cast includes Xanthe Huynh, David Cooley, Daman Mills, Suzie Yeung, Brent Mukai, Erica Mendez, and Risa Mei.
Virgin Punk Clockwork Girl will be screened in English and Japanese with English Subtitle options in select theaters nationwide alongside an exclusive look behind-the-scenes with director Yasuomi Umetsu on November 11 and November 13.
