Exciting news, anime fans, as Anime NYC has just announced that Japanese animation studio TRIGGER will be participating in this year’s convention!

TRIGGER is well known for animating popular and extremely well-received series, including: Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia, Promare, and the recently released Cyberpunk: Edgerunnners. The studio was founded in 2011 by several former Gainax employees and has received much praise for their daring and action-packed animation style and captivating character & world designs. TRIGGER’s SUSHiO, Shigeto Koyama, and Hiromi Wakabayashi will be attending Anime NYC as Official Guests and host events. They will host a panel, signings, and a PROMARE Cheer screening.

HIROMI WAKABAYASHI
“Previously a member of Studio GAINAX, Hiromi Wakabayashi has been involved in several works with Hiroyuki Imaishi, most notably GURREN LAGANN as design production. Hiromi also contributed to Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt as co-creator, writer, and episodic director. After making a transition to Studio TRIGGER, Hiromi has been actively involved in the production of KILL la KILL, Space Patrol Luluco, and PROMARE as creative director and music producer.

Hiromi has also filled in roles as script and art director for STAR WARS: VISIONS “THE TWINS” and took part in the production as creative support and music selection for TRIGGER’s most recent project – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
His roles include Aim for the Top 2! Diebuster (episode 4, 5, 6 special effects), GURREN LAGANN (settings production), Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (Original idea, screenplay, episodic director), KILL la KILL (creative officer, 2nd ending sequence storyboard and directing), Little Witch Academia (plot development assistance), BATTLE SAURS (Toy Story That Time Forgot) (producer), SEX and VIOLENCE with MACHSPEED (design and story development, music producer), Space Patrol Luluco (creative director), DARLING in the FRANXX (creative producer), PROMARE (creative director) (music selection), STAR WARS: VISIONS “THE TWINS” (script, art director), and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (creative support, music selection, opening animation).”
SHUSiO

“Previously a staff of Studio GAINAX, SUSHiO is a well-acclaimed animator in the industry who’s participated in many popular anime titles such as Diebuster, GURREN LAGANN, and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. With the establishment of Studio TRIGGER, SUSHiO joined the crew as a character designer for KILL la KILL. Since then, SUSHiO has been an essential key person in many of TRIGGER’s flagship titles.

SHIGETO KOYAMA

“Designer Shigeto Koyama began his career working on the series Diebuster with the historic Studio GAINAX and went on to take part as a designer in a variety of massively popular and critically acclaimed projects, including GURREN LAGANN, Rebuild of EVANGELION, KILL la KILL, and the Academy Award-winning Big Hero 6. In 2015, Koyama made his directorial debut with the short film Obake-chan, and he has worked on additional Studio TRIGGER projects.

Anime NYC 2022 Powered By Crunchyroll is set for November 18-20 at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan. Badges for Friday and Sunday are still available.
