HBO Max’s upcoming Velma series has been further detailed by its star Mindy Kaling at the Warner Bros Discovery Upfront presentation on Wednesday.
The series, titled “Velma,” will focus on the origin story of the iconic character. Mindy Kaling, in addition to voicing the character, will also be an executive producer alongside Charlie Grandy, Howard Klein, and Sam Register, with Warner Bros. Animation animating. 10 episodes have been ordered.
The preview seems to tease a more bloody version of a Scooby-Doo Story than we are used to. Though it is left to be seen just how bloody. There has been a racist backlash against the series for depicting Velma as South Asian.
Velma currently has no release date set but will stream on HBO Max.
