Bandai Namco has announced that it will be shutting down most online services and digital sales for its cross-over anime fighting game Jump Force.

Jump Force is just the latest entry into the popular Jump fighting game series. Characters from anime that began as manga series published in Weekly Shonen Jump do battle, bringing iconic moves and creating dream match-ups. Jump Force was developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and later ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

No information was given for the cause of the game’s removal and the shutdown of services, though some have suggested it may be a licensing issue. While the game was released to mixed reviews, a large segment of anime fans enjoyed and consistently played the game.

Sales of Jump Force and its DLC will stop on February 7th and 8th, with most online features and gameplay modes ceasing in August 2022. Offline content and online non-ranked battles will still be available to play, so it might be worth picking up for some. Jump Force is available for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
