‘Fena: Pirate Princess’ Gets New Trailer & Production Art

A tale of pirates and samurais.

Fena: Pirate Princess, the upcoming Crunchyroll and Adult Swim original series coming later this summer, has given a better look at the adventure ahead alongside a new trailer and never-before-seen production art!

“Fena Houtman remembers little about her childhood. Orphaned and raised as a servant in a brothel, her life changes when she escapes to an island of pirates where she discovers the truth behind her family. With Fena being the only one able to unlock her family’s secrets, and a formidable crew of female pirates on her tail, she must take her place as captain of her Samurai crew for a high seas adventure!”

Fena: Pirate Princess is a part of the Work in Progress series panel streaming from now through the end of June for Annecy badge holders. Featuring director Kazuto Nakazawa and Production I.G. producer Rui Kuroki, the duo share interesting background information for the series alongside images, character art, backgrounds, and more.

Fena Houtman will be voiced by Asami Seto: A positive, cheerful orphan despite her traumatic past. Known for her pale skin and glowing silver hair.” -via Crunchyroll

“Yukimaru will be voiced by Ryota Suzuki: The introverted, katana-wielding bodyguard of the Houtman family. He is extremely protective of Fena.” -via Crunchyroll

A Crunchyroll and Adult Swim original series, it will follow the adventure of Fena Houtman as she meets a crew of Japanese samurai who help her fend off pirates and English Navy forces who pursue her while she seeks to unravel her family secrets and discover a treasure. It is an original story from the series director Kazuto Nakazawa and animation studio Production I.G. The screenplay is being handled by Asako Kuboyama, with music by Yuki Kajiura and music production by FlyingDog.

Fena: Pirate Princess will simultaneously premiere dubbed in English on Adult Swim’s Toonami block and stream in Japanese with English subtitles on Crunchyroll later this summer.
