Netflix has released the teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action adaption of Winx Club to mixed responses.
“Fate: The Winx Saga follows the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence.”
Winx Club is a long-running Italian-American produced animated series created by Iginio Straffi in 2004. It follows Bloom, a girl who discovers her fairy lineage and powers and enrolls at the magical Alfea school for fairies, making close new friends and dangerous enemies. The series has 8 seasons spanning over 200 episodes, several spin-offs, several films, games, and even a stage production.
Fate: The Winx Saga is a six episode YA styled adaption of the series aimed at the now-adult fans of the original cartoon and movies. With the original Winx Club creator serving as one of its executive producers, the series will be a reimagining of the story Winx Club fans know so well.The series trailer has received mixed responses from the Winx Club fan community, but it is left to be seen just what the series will really be like.
Fate: The Winx Saga will be available to stream on Netflix on January 22, 2021.
