Sword Art Online Progressive The Movie: Hoshinaki Yoru no Aria, a retelling of the first story arc Sword Art Online, has gotten its first trailer posted to the official Sword Art Online Twitter account.

Sword Art Online Progressive was originally published as a light novel series starting in 2012 and serves as a retelling and soft-reboot of the original Aincrad arc. Its release comes on the heels of the season finale for the previous Sword Art Online anime series Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld.

Sword Art Online Progressive The Movie: Hoshinaki Yoru no Aria is being directed by Ayako Kawano, with Kento Toya handling character designs, and Yasuyuki Kai (who worked on the Sword Art Online anime series) acting as action director. It is being produced by anime studio A-1 Pictures.

Sword Art Online Progressive The Movie: Hoshinaki Yoru no Aria will be be released in Japan in 2021. No word yet on a western release.
