‘Pokémon Rumble Rush’ Early Impression

A rumble of an adventure is on its way to your mobile device!

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have released a new entry into the Pokémon rumble franchise, this time as a smartphone game titled Pokémon Rumble Rush.

You take to the skies as a faceless trainer in a hot air balloon using the touch screen to tap a location and explore a small area with a few specific Pokémon.

I started the game with a Rattata which may be standard for all players. Once you start your battle, Pokémon who sport the toy-like design the Rumble games Pokémon have will walk on their own, with you tapping the screen to have it attack an enemy.

Each battle is quick and only takes a few seconds.

The goal of the game is to keep fighting boss Pokémon, but you can’t just quickly jump to them to fight, you have to clear conditions like having a Pokémon of a specific type, name, and CP. CP (Combat Power) makes a return to the game as all Pokémon have CP, and most bosses require a CP power level check to battle. There are also conditions which need you to boost the power level with the use of gear items. These are special items obtained by beating giant boss Pokémon at the end of stages and are contained in Ore. When you obtain an ore you have to wait an allotted time for it to be researched, which can take as short as 2 seconds to a full 24 hours depending on rarity.

The game is free-to-play with some microtransactions in the form of buying the in-game feathers which allow you to search for more areas with Pokémon.

Pokémon Rumble Rush is a fun little time waster and I’m eager to see what Pokémon they add to it in the future. So far all I have seen are the original 150 but it can be expanded greatly pass that as you explore more of this game.

Pokémon Rumble Rush is free-to-play and currently only available to download in Australia, other regions will follow soon. You should try it out when available to you, and see where your Pokémon Rumble Rush adventure takes you!
