As reported by Anime News Network, today Warner Bros. Japan revealed that an anime movie adaption of Level 5’s Ni No Kuni is on its way.
Being produced by Level 5, the movie has Level 5’s CEO Akihiro Hino set to produce and pen the script, Yoshiyuki Momose directing and Hayao Miyazaki’s longtime collaborator Joe Hisaishi composing the music. The film will star Kento Yamazaki as Yū, a high school student caught hopping between their world and the world of Ni No Kuni alongside two of their friends.
Animation studio OLM is animating the film, and the concepts look already looks stunning.
Originally released in 2010, the Ni no Kuni franchise has five games so far, with the latest entry, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom being released on March 23, 2018, for PC and PS4.
Set for a Summer 2019 release in Japan, no word yet on a Western release or screenings, but given that it enjoys fans worldwide, we will say it is likely.
