A ‘Chicken Run’ Sequel is in Development

Time to return to the farm

Nearly twenty years after its release, a sequel has been announced for stop-motion movie Chicken Run. As reported by the Hollywood reporter, while the new film is being made by Aardman Animations (who made the original film) and Studio Canal, there is no further information.

The original film was released in 2000 and received high praise and box office success. Following a group of chickens who continually attempt to escape from the farm they are held captive, their struggle is made more desperate after finding out they are going to be turned into chicken pot pies.

It will be interesting to see how casting goes as Mel Gibson played one of the lead characters and love interest, Rocky Rhode. In recent years Gibson has been noted as being unsavory, and in the briefest of descriptions, controversial. No word yet on how long we will have to wait for this sequel

  1. I’m glad because I loved “Chicken Run.” And this post reminded me to watch “Early Man.”
