DC Is Celebrating Batman Day This Year With an Absolute Batman Crossover Comic

DC is celebrating Batman Day this year with a crossover comic event that has the Detective Comics Batman meeting Absolute Batman in “Batman of Two Worlds,” a new Batman story written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Javi Fernández, and will be released this September.

Batman is the iconic superhero vigilante created by writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane; he debuted in Detective Comics #27 in March 1939. The alias of the wealthy industrialist and playboy Bruce Wayne, Batman protects Gotham City, a mission he took on after witnessing his parents being gunned down by a criminal. Batman is one of the most well-known fictional characters, with countless depictions in comics, games, movies, novels, TV series, radio dramas, and more.

Absolute Batman is an alternate version of Batman written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. Set on a world where Bruce Wayne is a blue-collar civil engineer and not a wealthy socialite, he lacks the resources that money afforded the traditional Batman. Instead, Bruce uses his engineering know-how combined with growing up in the rough neighborhood of Crime Alley to fight crime, slowly uncovering an evil force dating back decades. The series is a part of the Absolute Universe imprint and launched alongside Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman.
