Golden Kamuy: The Abashiri Prison Raid is the third live-action Golden Kamuy project following the 2024 film and TV series. Continuing the series’ action-packed story, it sees Sugimoto and Asirpa heading to the dangerous Abashiri Prison for answers as the battle for the Ainu treasure heats up. It stars Kento Yamazaki, Anna Yamada, and Gordon Maeda.
Golden Kamuy is a historical adventure manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Noda and published by Shueisha. Set in the early 20th century, it is the story of Saichi Sugimoto, a war veteran who, alongside Asirpa, a young Ainu hunter, seeks a legendary treasure belonging to the Ainu, an indigenous people of northern Japan and Southeastern Russia. Golden Kamuy would be adapted into an anime series, with the first three seasons directed by Hitoshi Nanba and animated by Geno Studio, and the last two seasons directed by Shizutaka Sugahara and animated by Brain’s Base. The series has also been adapted into several live-action films.
Golden Kamuy: The Abashiri Prison Raid will stream on Netflix on July 13th.
