‘New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt’ confirmed for 2025 and has new key visual art

The highly anticipated return of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was confirmed to be set for 2025 at this year’s Anime Expo, and included a new key visual showing the Anarchy sisters, their friends, and rivals.

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was created and animated by the now defunct Gainax. The story of the Anarchy Sisters, Panty & Stocking, two angels who are kicked out of heaven due to their bad behavior. The pair find themselves under the command of Reverend Garterbelt, who has them rid their new hometown of Daten City of ghosts. Turning their lingerie into special weapons, each kill earns them special coins they can use to buy their way back into heaven. The series was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and written by Geek Fleet. Action-packed adult comedy series, it was well received, with fans asking for a continuation since 2010.

New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is the series’ long-awaited return. Coming from studio Trigger, it is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, who is also writing it alongside Hiromi Wakabayashi, with art direction by Shigeto Koyama, original character designs by Atushi Nishigori, and character designs by Shigeto Koyama, SUSHiO, & Masaru Sakamoto.
