To Be Hero X, a stylized over-the-top comedy anime series, will be released later this year, and it was announced at this year’s Anime Expo that Crunchyroll has licensed the series for release outside of Asia, including an English dub!
To Be Hero X is the latest entry in the genre spanning Chinese-Japanese animated series To Be Hero. To Be Hero was produced by Emon and animated by Studio LAN, with supervision by Shinichi Watanabe. The original series followed a handsome toilet designer and single parent who, after being sucked down his toiler, is given super powers to protect Earth; The downside being that he has lost his good looks and is unrecognizable, even by his own daughter. It would go on to get a second season titled To Be Heroine, which focused on a girl being transported to another world whose inhabitants have been transformed into diaper wearing babies and where you can summon fighters using clothes.
To Be Hero X is being directed by Li Haoling, with animation by BeDream, and is being released in collaboration between Bilibili and Aniplex. Its trailer teases an action-packed story of a world where heroes compete for the support of the populace, all to become the top hero: Hero X.
