‘EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME’ heads to North American theaters this December!

GKIDS Films has revealed that EVANGELION: 3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME, the fourth and final film in Evangelion’s Rebuild film series, will be heading to North American theaters this December!

“From legendary director Hideaki Anno, EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME is the fourth and final installment of the REBUILD OF EVANGELION films, bringing an epic conclusion to the story of Shinji and his fellow Eva pilots, with the stunning visuals and thought-provoking storytelling that has made EVANGELION a global pop culture phenomenon.

Misato and her anti-NERV group Wille arrive at Paris, a city now red from core-ization. Crew from the flagship Wunder land on a containment tower. They only have 720 seconds to restore the city. When a horde of NERV Evas appear, Mari’s improved Eva Unit 8 must intercept. Meanwhile, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei (Provisional Name) wander about Japan.”

The long-awaited fourth and final film in Evangelion’s Rebuild film series. It was announced alongside Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo and was expected to release in Japan in 2015, but was delayed until June 2020 before being further delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was written by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno who also serves as the film’s chief director, with Kazuya Tsurumaki, Katsuichi Nakayama, and Mahiro Maeda as directors, and animation by Khara, Inc.

GKIDS’ acquisition of North American theatrical & home video rights for EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME made sure that this milestone film gets to be experienced by anime fans in theaters across North America!

EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME will be released in North American theaters on December 6, 8, & 11, with tickets going on sale on November 2nd. You can learn more and signup for updates here.
