The Gotham Knights prequel comic shows the city’s first masked Vigilante!

Alongside the release of the action-RPG Gotham Knights, a new comic will show the rise of the Knights and introduces Gotham City’s first masked vigilante: The Runaway.

“A mysterious virus has infected Gotham City—turning its victims into rabid, yellow-irised maniacs driven to looting, theft, and bursts of anger. Batman and his Gotham Knights struggle to keep this strange virus contained while investigating its origins. But this is not the first time this unusual illness has overtaken the city. Take a trip to Gotham in the mid-1800s and meet the city’s first masked vigilante—the mysterious hero known only as the Runaway—as they, too, find themselves mired in the mystery of this infection! This thrilling and horrific tale, split between modern-day Gotham and the Gotham of 1847, leads directly into the upcoming video game Gotham Knights!”

Batman: Gotham Knights – Gilded City is written by Evan Narcisse and illustrated by Abel. Serving as a prequel to the Gotham Knights video game, it is split between the modern day and 1847 Gotham, showing the story of its first masked hero. An exciting story, another great reason to check out this comic is for that each issue will also include a code for readers to redeem for special in-game items, with those who redeem the codes for all 6 issues receiving a special 7th item.      

Gotham Knights is an upcoming action RPG developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Set in a world reeling from the death of Batman, it is up to Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to protect Gotham in the Dark Knight’s absence. An open-world game, play as the Gotham Knights either solo or in two-player co-op. While it has a similar plot as the upcoming CW television series of the same name, it has a different cast of characters and narrative focus.
