Deadline has reported that a movie adaption of classic beat’em up Streets of Rage is being worked on by a John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, news that is sure to make gamers and action movie fans very happy. Kolstad’s Streets of Rage will be produced by dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists, the same team behind the live-action Sonic Hedgehog movies.

Streets of Rage was released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis and is a side-scrolling beat’em up that follows a team of fighters taking on a criminal organization by, well, beating them up on the street. Unleashing their rage if you are looking for another way to phrase it.

Yes it is the most late 80’s/ early 90s plot of all time. The series is considered a classic and has received sequels as recently as 2020.

It is sure that this adaption is sure to be action-packed. We can’t wait to hear more.
