Japanese midnight screenings of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time have been canceled due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19. Announced on the official Japanese site alongside a message of thanks to healthcare workers and sympathies to victims of this devastating pandemic.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time is the long-awaited fourth and final film in Evangelion’s Rebuild film series. It was announced alongside Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo and was expected to release in 2015 but was delayed until June 2020 before being further delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film’s current release date is set for January 23, with special midnight screenings canceled.
