As reported by The Disinsider, a high budget live-action remake of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch will begin filming soon.
Originally announced last year, filming will begin in the Fall of this year in Hawaii. Produced by Dan Lin and Johnathan Eirich, who worked on the Aladdin live-action adaption, the script was written by Mike Van Waes.
The original Lilo & Stitch came out in 2002 and followed Lilo and her encounter with alien experiment, 626 (lovingly named Stitch). The movie would go on to be a smash hit, spawning a beloved TV series, and the best browser game ever made.
The new version will retell the story mixing live-action and CGI footage. It is the latest to join Disney’s live-action adaption of their classic properties, which include Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, and The Lion King.
No projected release date has been given yet, but it will heading to Disney+.
