There may be some sad news for Beetlejuice fans. As reported by USA TODAY, during a talk with Tim Burton (the director of the original film) about his latest film, Dumbo, USA Today decided to ask about the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice.
When USA TODAY asked Burton what’s going on with the “Beetlejuice” sequel during an interview for “Dumbo,” he mumbled, “Nothing, nothing.”
But is “Beetlejuice 2” going to happen?Via USA TODAY
“I don’t know. I doubt it,” Burton said, and waved off further questions.
Beetlejuice 2 has long been caught in development hell, with its original planned sequel Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian being green-lit shortly after the original film’s 1988 release. Since then they have been a plethora of rumors of possible releases and writers attached.
Demand has risen again with the new Broadway adaption of the original film, but it seems fans may be left in a bit of a limbo themselves when it comes to a sequel.
