Funimation Entertainment has revealed that Afro Samurai Director Fuminori Kizaki will be announcing a new project at this year’s Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) during the Funimation panel.
Announced to be a sci-fi cyberpunk story taking place in Tokyo in the not too distant future, it will be interesting to see Kizaki’s unique directing style mixed with that style of story.
“Funimation will be hosting an exciting panel on Friday, March 22 in which Fuminori Kizaki (Director of Afro Samurai), Toshiaki Obata (Marketing Producer of PSYCHO-PASS), and Shuzo John Shiota (President of Polygon Pictures) will reveal a new sci-fi, cyberpunk film project with Funimation that explores the role of humanity in Tokyo, Japan of year 2036. Kizaki is the founder of Studio Hercules and has not only directed the Afro Samurai anime series and its movie, Afro Samurai: Resurrection. He is also well know for directing the anime adaption of Basilisk and Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. He will be joined by fellow anime industry figures Toshiaki Obata and Shuzo John Shiota.
C2E2 is scheduled for March 22nd -24th with Funimation’s panel being held on the 22nd.
