The Chinese Government has Resumed Video Game Approvals After 9 Month Hiatus

Chinese gamers had quite the wait to play the latest games

Nine months without any new game releases would bother most gamers so imagine how it must have felt for Chinese gamers who had to wait that long while the Chinese Government approved a new batch of games.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, the Chinese Communist Party’s Propaganda Department has announced that China’s Video Game Regulator has finished reviewing the initial batch of games that the new department is tasked with checking out. This organization is tasked with fighting video game addiction and eyesight issues that the Chinese government believe gaming might cause.

This delay in new releases caused the massive Chinese gaming industry to stall and even have its related stocks drop, though this news has already caused a surge.

While it has been explained yet what games were approved, it is known that this first batch of announced and approved games will be China made, with foreign games to follow. We imagine that the Country’s gamers will hope for the process in the future to be much more speedy.
