Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Actor Alfonso Ribeiro Is Suing Fortnite And NBA 2K Over Dance

The actor joins a growing list of creators about Fortnite's use of dances

As reported by TMZ, actor Alfonso Ribeiro is suing Fortnite creator Epic Games and NBA 2K creator 2K Games over the uncredited use of the famous “Carlton Dance” from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

In what has become a growing trend of dance creators having issues with video games using dances with neither credit given or money paid, Ribeiro has issues with how Epic games has continued to profit from the use of his dance as his attorney explained.

“Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like “Fresh.” Yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr. Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property.” David Hecht of Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP Via TMZ

With Fortnite’s continued success, this trend will likely continue of creators wanting what they feel they are owned.
