Game developer Jagex has announced it will be shutting down its original RuneScape Classic MMORPG.

Originally released in 2001, the free-to-play MMO was played or at least tried by most gamers at one point (including our entire staff it seems). While RuneScape did see continued support and improvement, it had rereleased its original gameĀ for many to play, though the “Old School” version has not seen official major support from Jagex in a long time.
The official shut down date for the classic servers will be August 6th of this year at 8 am BST. It will be a sad day for many.
