FAIRY TAIL Celebrates 2oth Anniversary with New Special PV & K MANGA Stream

20 years ago this summer, fantasy adventure manga series Fairy Tail debuted, and the world first met Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail Guild. Shōnen Magazine is celebrating with a new promotional video and K MANGA news.

The FAIRY TAIL 20th Anniversary -Special PV- shows Fairy Tail member Lucy chronicling her adventures with her friends, the video is directed by Whitepuzzl and features the song “Snow Fairy” performed by FUNKIST. This amazingly beautiful video accompanies the announcement that the series will be available on K MANGA, Kodansha’s digital manga platform, on August 5, 2026.

Fairy Tail began as a manga series in August 2006, written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima and published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine by Kodansha. Set in a fantasy world where wizards come together to form powerful guilds and fulfill requests, it follows Natsu Dragneel, a wizard with the powers of a dragon, and his guildmates as they take on jobs and powerful enemies. The series would be adapted into an anime series directed by Shinji Ishihira, written by Masashi Sogo, and with music by Yasuharu Takanashi. Animation was handled by A-1 Pictures alongside Satelight for episodes #1–175, Bridge for episodes #176–328, and CloverWorks for episodes #278–328.

Fairy Tail’s story continues in the sequel series Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, written and storyboarded by Hiro Mashima, and illustrated by Atsuo Ueda. Set after the events of the original series, it has the members of the Fairy Tail guild set out on a seemingly impossible quest that has gone unfufilled for 100 years. 100 Years Quest would get an anime adaptation directed by Shinji Ishihira & Toshinori Watabe, written by Atsuhiro Tomioka, with music by Yasuharu Takanashi, and animation by J.C. Staff.
