This year marks the 100th anniversary of when the first Winnie the Pooh book was officially published, and Disney is celebrating the debut of the iconic, adorable bear.
Winnie the Pooh was created by author A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shepard. Published two years prior as Edward Bear, Pooh would debut as the more familiar character we know as a part of a collection of stories in a book titled Winnie-the-Pooh. Set in the fictional Hundred Acre Wood, it follows the teddy bear Winnie the Pooh and his friends as they go on daily adventures and play together, with a focus on gentleness, kindness, and finding a bit of joy in everything.
Disney would acquire the rights to Winnie the Pooh in 1966, and through a series of animated movies, TV shows, and shorts, it would go on to become Disney’s third-highest-grossing media franchise.
The anniversary video spotlights the animation history of Winnie the Pooh, making for a nostalgic journey for fans both young and old.
The “Hundred Acre Wood” Levels of Kingdom Hearts are still cute.
Happy Birthday to Winnie the Pooh and his friends! We hope there is plenty of honey waiting for you!
