The Simpson family are returning to the big screen with a new movie in 2027, 20 years after the release of the first movie.
The Simpsons is a long-running animated sitcom created by Matt Groening. Originally a series of animated shorts aired as part of The Tracey Ullman Show in the late 80s, it would eventually be developed into its own show. Focusing on the lives of the Simpson family in the fictional American town of Springfield, The Simpsons offers a satirical look at American culture, values, and more. The series has been on the air for 37 seasons, comprising over 700 episodes, and has become a cultural staple.
The Simpsons Movie was released in 2007 and marked the titular family’s first big-screen adventure, as they faced off against a corrupt government official after Homer’s latest scheme goes too far. The movie was well-received, with many fans wondering when they would get another one.
The Simpsons 2 is set to premiere in theaters on July 23, 2027.
