2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Ace Combat franchise, and Bandai Namco Entertainment is celebrating with a special memorial movie for ACE COMBAT 3: Electrosphere, the latest video in a series of memorial movies honoring the series previous releases.
“To commemorate the 30th anniversary of ACE COMBAT Series, we present a memorial movie for ACE COMBAT 3. Enjoy the appeal of “ACE COMBAT 3,” set in a near-future world!”
Ace Combat is a combat flight shooter game series published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Combining fast-paced aerial action, dynamic weapons based on both the real and theoretical, and captivating stories, the series became a favorite for those looking for a combat simulation game with a strong narrative. There are currently 7 main entry games in the series, with the latest release, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, released in 2019. A new entry was confirmed to be in development in August 2021.
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere was released in Japan in 1999 and internationally in 2000. The third game in the series features strong cyberpunk themes, as large megacorporations use their powers to wage war; it is up to a specialized peacekeeping group to stop the conflict from worsening. While the Japanese version was well received and is now considered a classic by many, the international version received mixed reviews, with most attributing the negative response to the content being cut from the original Japanese release due to time constraints.
A fun throwback for fans of the series. Congratulations to Ace Combat for 30 years of aerial combat fun!
