During Anime NYC 2025, GKIDS Films brought several members of the Dan Da Dan cast & staff to the main stage, sharing some fun and fascinating behind-the-scenes information alongside the news that Bryce Papenbrook is joining the cast as Kinta Sakata.
DAN DA DAN is a manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. The series is about two classmates who believe in separate portions of the supernatural/paranormal world, both finding out things are a lot more complicated than they originally thought, unlocking hidden powers and new abilities while pursuing the truth.
The panel was hosted by GKIDS’ Crystal Bell. It featured series producer Hiroshi Kamei, and voice actors Abby Trott (Momo Ayase), A.J. Beckles (Okarun), and Lisa Reimold (Aira Shiratori). They discussed their excitement about being part of Season 2, as well as their love and gratitude to the series’ fans. They also teased what’s to come for the show, including a live dubbing of several scenes, and the reveal that Bryce Papenbrook will be joining the cast as Kinta Sakata.
Papenbrook is a much-loved voice actor whose filmography includes roles in Sword Art Online, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Revengers, Black Clover, and more! Kinta is Okarun’s socially awkward classmate. Obsessed with the paranormal, his weird, over-the-top behavior and imaginative skills make him a vital part of the team, though his tendencies to flirt with the women around him can make him difficult to deal with.
Behind-the-scenes information given by producer Hiroshi Kamei, who discussed what went into the battle against the Composers in episode 8, season 2, and that the performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony came from MBS’s 10,000-person annual chorus event.
And this is just a glimpse of what was shared during an exciting panel filled with fun moments that fans loved! There were giveaways, games, and great discussions between the cast.
New episodes of Dan Da Dan premiere every Thursday on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix.
