‘NANA’ celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special edition manga run

The story of two young women who share a name and concerns about their future, Ai Yazawa’s NANA has become a cultural staple; it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time thanks to its relatable story, captivating art, and stylish outfits. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the manga, VIZ Media is releasing the Nana 25th Anniversary Edition, Volume 1, this October in North America.

NANA is a romance drama series written & illustrated by Ai Yazawa (who also created Neighborhood Story and Paradise Kiss) and published as a part of Shojo Beat. The series focuses on Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu, two young women who move to Tokyo and become roommates, their differences leading to personal growth and a powerful friendship. The series has been on hiatus since 2009 following the hospitalization of Yazawa. NANA would later be adapted into an anime series directed by Morio Asaka and animated by Madhouse, as well as get two live-action film adaptations.
