Cartoon Network Posted About The Iconic Writer:
“The things we do for love (Broken Heart Emoji) Thank you, David, for your work on the strangely beautiful world of Courage, lovingly adding to our childhood trauma while teaching poignant life lessons. How you’ve brought to life a scared but courageous little dog reminds us that we can do anything, even if we’re afraid. Rest well.”
“There’s no such thing as perfect, you’re beautiful as you are, Courage. With all of your imperfections, you can do anything you want to do!”
Courage the Cowardly Dog is a surreal comedy horror series created by John R. Dilworth. It premiered on Cartoon Network in 1999 and followed a small dog named Courage, the elderly couple he lived with on a small farm, and the bizarre paranormal/supernatural events that happened to them. The series is considered a classic with dark comedy elements and horror narratives in a show for children.
David Steven Cohen was the series’ head writer and worked on iconic episodes, including Freaky Fred, Night of the Weremole, The Clutching Foot, Little Muriel, Mission to the Sun, Katz Candy, and more.
Beyond Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cohen has also worked on Tiny Toon Adventures, Phil of the Future, Viva Piñata, and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss.
David Steven Cohen will be missed by his fans worldwide. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
