This March marks the 21st anniversary of the Monster Hunter franchise, and the team behind its latest entry, Monster Hunter Wilds, has released a video thanking fans for their support.

“A message from the Monster Hunter team: Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, Executive Director/Art Director Kaname Fujioka, and Director Yuya Tokuda!

This year marks 21 years of the Monster Hunter series. Whether you’re joining us for the first time with Monster Hunter Wilds, have been with us since the beginning, or anywhere in between, thank you!”

Monster Hunter is a fantasy action RPG franchise developed and published by Capcom. In the game, players gather materials to make gear & items and, either solo or with a friend, hunt/capture fantasy-themed monsters across exotic locals. The first game was released on PlayStation 2 in March 2004; the series would go on to have 27 main entry and spin-off games spread across consoles, handhelds, and mobile devices. Monster Hunter’s popularity would continue on to anime OVAs, card games, manga, animated films, and live-action films.

The newest game in the franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds, was released this year to critic and fan acclaim.

Happy anniversary, Hunters! It has been a fantastic ride, and as fans, we are excited to see what comes next!

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
