The fourth and final film in Evangelion’s Rebuild film series, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, was announced alongside Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo and was expected to be released in Japan in 2015 but was delayed until June 2020 before being further delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was released in 2021 and was written by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, who also serves as the film’s chief director, with Kazuya Tsurumaki, Katsuichi Nakayama, and Mahiro Maeda as directors, music by Shiro Sagisu, and animation by Khara, Inc.
