Adult Swim has announced that LAZARUS, an upcoming original anime series directed by Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirō Watanabe, will premiere next month on April 6th.

Lazarus is set in a not-to-distant future where a special task force called Lazarus is formed to find the creator of a “miracle drug” that promises it will cure anything but actually will kill anyone who takes it after only a few years unless a vaccine is created. The series is directed by Shinichirō Watanabe (most known for his work directing Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Carole & Tuesday, and Space Dandy), produced by Masato Matsunaga, and written by Shinichirō Watanabe, Dai Satō, Takahiro Ozawa, & Tsukasa Kondo, with music by Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, & Floating Points. The animation is by MAPPA, and the series is produced by Sola Entertainment.

Lazarus’ English voice cast includes Jack Stansbury, Jovan Jackson, Luci Christian, Bryson Baugus, Annie Wild, Jade Kelly, Patrick Judge, and David Matranga.

Lazarus premieres on April 5 at midnight on Toonami on Adult Swim and becomes available on Max the next day.
