Take a trip back to Jefferton, as the early Adult Swim animated series Tom Goes to the Mayor celebrated its 20th-anniversary last week, with co-creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim reminiscing about the surreal show.
Tom Goes to the Mayor premiered on November 14, 2004, and is an animated series about aspiring entrepreneur/inventor Tom Peters. After moving to the small rundown town of Jefferton, Tom finds his efforts constantly undermined by the difficult, unpleasant, and surreal citizens, often led by the Mayor. The series starred Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, Bob Odenkirk, Craig Anton, Ron Lynch, Stephanie Courtney, and Michael Q. Schmidt. Tom Goes to the Mayor ran for 2 seasons but had a lasting impact, with many of its characters and segments carrying over to Tim & Eric’s other projects and series.
Happy birthday to this iconic series! Rats off to ya! We hope Tom is doing okay.
Tom Goes to the Mayor is available to stream on Hulu.
