In a surprise announcement, Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that a new Death Note social deduction game, DEATH NOTE Killer Within, is being released next week.

DEATH NOTE Killer Within is being developed by Grounding Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. In it, up to 10 players split into two teams: Kira and his followers and L and his investigation team. The goal is to use assigned roles to determine who L is and eliminate them or seize the Death Note to stop Kira.

DEATH NOTE is a manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It follows a genius high school student Light Yagama, who comes across a supernatural book called the Death Note, which was thrown into the human world by the shinigami Ryuk. Any name written into the death note will die, so Light takes it upon himself to create a crime-free world, no matter the cost. The series would become a pop culture staple, being adapted into an anime series, several spinoff manga, live-action films & TV series, and video games.
