Disney is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its animated action series Gargoyles by posting the original behind-the-scenes videos from the show’s release.
Gargoyles is an animated action series that premiered on October 24, 1994. The series followed a group of Gargoyles, strong supernatural creatures armed with claws and able to fly, but who must turn during the day. After a devastating betrayal that cost them most of their clan, the Gargoyle Goliath and several survivors slumber for 1000 years, awakening in New York City. The Gargoyles must now protect their new home, deal with threats both ancient and new, and fight for their future. The series got much acclaim for its voice acting, multi-episode plot, character designs, and darker stories than most children’s animated series at the time.
Disney plans to celebrate the momentous anniversary with the release of new comics, books, and collectibles/toys. A live-action series was also announced.
2024 is also the 40th anniversary of Disney Television Animation, the television animation production arm of Disney. They gave us amazing pop culture staples including DuckTales, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Doug, Recess, and so much more.
Gargoyles is an amazing series, with the tale of Goliath and his family and friends being immensely captivating. You can stream the series now on Disney+.
