It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia follows a group of “friends” who run a failing bar together, and the constant arguing, scheming, cons, fighting, and drinking they do. The show has run for 16 seasons, with season 17 set to premiere next year. The series was created by Rob McElhenney, and developed for TV by McElhenney and Glen Howerton. It stars Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson, Danny DeVito.

Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary comedy series created by Quinta Brunson. It is the story of a second-grade teacher at an underfunded, predominantly Black public school in Philadelphia. The series stars Brunson, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Perfetti, and Tyler James Williams.

The crossover came about after Brunson connected with the Always Sunny team after comparisons between the shows were made online (both shows also take place in Philadelphia).

Season 4 of Abbott Elementary is currently airing, and season 17 of Always Sunny in Philadelphia record will premiere in 2025.
