Dark Horse announced at Anime NYC 2024 that after a three-year hiatus, a new Berserk manga volume will be released in North America next year.
“The shocking appearance of Griffith on Elf Island has provoked rage and terror in Guts and Casca…and carved a rift into the enchanted isle itself, setting loose a corrosive horde of devourers from beneath the earth! If the Black Swordsman cannot rely upon even his legendary blade, escape by ship seems the only hope for survival…but not everyone is leaving Elf Island together!”

Berserk Volume 42 is the first new volume of the popular dark fantasy series being released in North America after the passing of series creator Kentaro Miura in 2021. Volume 42 was written and illustrated by Miura’s longtime assistants Studio Gaga, with supervision by his close friend, Koji Mori (the mangaka behind Holyland).
Berserk is a dark fantasy action series created by Kentaro Miura. Set in a brutal world where humans can be as cruel and vicious as the monsters who prey on them, it follows a traveling mercenary named Guts. Wielding an arsenal of unique tools, dangerous weapons, and a special suit of armor, Guts hunts a former ally who destroyed the things that mattered most to him. First debuting in 1989, Berserk has gone on to be an iconic anime series, telling the story of a man who, despite suffering greatly, continues to fight.
Volume 42 will be available in March 2025. You can stream the Berserk (2016) anime series over on Crunchyroll.
