Anime NYC 2024: virtual reality film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom” gets October release date and trailer

Bandai Namco Filmworks have shared the trailer and revealed the release date for a truly unique Gundam experience heading our way! A virtual reality film Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom will be released this October 3rd.

Synopsis:

“U.C. 0096. The unofficial mercenary organization Argent Keil, which belongs to neither Federation nor Zeon, has accepted a mission to assassinate the Federation official Azami Meginneh. This was a commission from the Federation Forces, which can’t reveal that Azami has been collaborating with Zeon. But just before the mission, the Argent Keil fleet is attacked by none other than Federation Jegan. Amid the chaos, a solver-colored Gundam secretly possessed by Argent Keil launches into the cosmos.”

Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom is a feature-length VR film that puts fans into the world of Gundam. Announced for the Meta Quest 2 and 3, it is a collaborative project between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V, a company who have worked on previous VR titles. Silver Phantom is directed by Kenichi Suzuki, with the script by Ryōji Sekinishi, character designs by Tsukasa Kotobuki, mechanical designs by Mika Akitaka, and music composition by Yoshiya Ikeda.

A captivating way to experience the action, designs, and scale of a Gundam story, it promises to be a unique way to see the giant robots we love so much!
