Official ‘Save DEATH BATTLE’ Kickstarter fully funded in only 21 minutes!

The future of the animated web series Death Battle was left uncertain following the closure of Rooster Teeth, with the series co-creators saying they had plans to keep it going. Well, yesterday, not only have they revealed their plans, reaching out to fans to help create more Death Battle with a Kickstarter campaign, but pledges have already surpassed their initial goal in only 21 minutes!

Death Battle is a web series where fictional characters are pitted against each other, starting with a researched look into character abilities and history, followed by an animated fight sequence using the data to decide the outcome. The series has become a fun example of that classic fun of nerd arguments about who would win in a fight.

Death Battle has now survived the closure of two of its parent company closures and is now owned by its co-creators.

The initial Kickstarter goal of $75k was quickly met, and during a nearly 9-hour livestream, they managed to raise over $480k, with that total continuing to rise. Numerous stretch goals have so far been reached, and Death Battle has announced that more are on the way.

The future of Rooster Teeth series including Death Battle, RWBY, Camp Camp, and more, was initially left in the air after Rooster Teeth’s closure was announced, though it was revealed at this year’s Anime Expo that RWBY will continue thanks to VIZ Media.

The survival of Death Battle and the fact that its future is in the hands of its creator is amazing news after Rooster Teeth’s fate. We, and I’m sure all of their fans, are excited to see where they go next!
