A New Superman: The Movie LP Box Set is Soaring to Shelves Next Month

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a new Superman: The Movie soundtrack box set! That’s right, fans of the Man of Steel, a new collectible LP box set is being released to celebrate 1978’s Superman: The Movie.

A collector’s box set, it will include the graphic novel Superman ’78 and the original soundtrack for Superman: The Movie pressed on 2 LPS featuring the eye-catching “Metropolis Swirl” color variant.

All of this is housed in a stunning box with special artwork by Joe Quinones and Paolo Rivera, who also created new cover art for Superman ’78.

Superman: The Movie was released in 1978 and was the start of the four-movie Superman film series that starred Christopher Reeves (five including 1984’s Supergirl spin-off movie), beginning in 1978 and finishing in 1987. While not the first time Superman soared onto theater screens, it is considered the film that truly showed the power of superhero movies, its success not only caused several sequels but some would say started the mainstream superhero movie interest that would go on into the early-mid 1990s. The movie was directed by Richard Donner, with the story by Mario Puzo, and the screenplay by Mario Puzo, Robert Benton, David Newman, and Leslie Newman. It stars Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando, Jackie Cooper, Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas, Jack O’Halloran, and Ned Beatty.

A fun collectible, Superman: The Movie Original Soundtrack LP & Graphic Novel Box set will be released next month (June 2024), with pre-orders still open.
