Adult Swim has offered eager fans a first look at the upcoming Rick and Morty anime heading to Adult Swim and Max (formally known as HBO Max) later this year.
Rick and Morty: The Anime was announced by Adult Swim in 2022. The series will be directed by Takashi Sano (who also directed the first season of Tower of God) and will be 10 episodes long.
Rick and Morty is the popular adult animated sci-fi comedy series created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. It follows cynical mad genius scientist Rick, and his shy and kind grandson Morty as they balance their home life with interdimensional & interplanetary havoc and mayhem. The series quickly became popular due to its dark comedic themes and memorable characters and catchphrases.
Last year, series co-creator Justin Roiland was fired from the series following domestic abuse allegations. The show started its 7th season in October 2023, recasting Roiland’s roles with soundalike actors.
Rick and Morty: The Anime will premiere later this year on Adult Swim and Max, the latter offering streaming options for the show’s seven seasons.
