Jazz-themed anime film Blue Giant is getting a Blu-ray release later this month from the fine folks over at GKIDS.
“Dai Miyamoto’s life changes when he discovers jazz. He picks up a tenor saxophone and practices every day. After leaving his hometown, Sendai, he pursues a music career in Tokyo with help from his friend Shunji. One day, Dai plays passionately from the heart and convinces talented pianist Yukinori to start a band together. Along with Shunji, a beginner drummer, they form the three-piece band, JASS. With each live performance, they get closer and closer to their dream of playing at So Blue, the most famous jazz club in Japan, in hopes of forever changing the world of jazz.

Blue Giant is based on a manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Shinichi Ishizuka. It is the story of a high schooler who, after discovering Jazz, begins an emotionally captivating journey exploring music.
The anime film was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, written by Number 8, with music by HIROMI, and animation by NUT. The Blu-ray will feature the film in Japanese audio with English, English SDH, and Spanish subtitle options. Special features include a Q&A with HIROMI and trailers & teasers
